Chapter Three

"55 bottles o'beer on the wall, 55 bottle o'beer on the, take one down, pass it 'round", Jubilee off key voice was heard from the shower as Logan slipped into her room to see if she was up. He grimaced, it was a wonder he hadn't picked up on that high pitched sound downstairs. "JUBILEE!", he roared out loudly so that she would become embarressed of him over hearing her and shut up.

She heard him, and shouted a "Hi Wolvy!". Then she went on to another song. "Somewhere out There", this time though it was in her normal lower soft pitched voice. It was quite pleasant and Wolverine sat himself down on her couch and flipped on the T.V. It had been two days sent they headed out and they had come into the Canadian's mountains just the day before. It wouldn't belong till they would just park and start to hike it out.

They'd pitch camp about halfway, then hike the rest to the cabin the next day. He'd called some old friend's in a town a day's journey down the other side o'the mountain. He told them Jubilee's sizes and they were getting together a few old clothes together. Jubilee had already bought a couple pair's of jeans. One which had already been cut into short cut-offs when she got hot. The others had holes in the knees, thanks to the previous owners. They'd bought them at a thrift store.

Jubilee finally slipped out of the bathroom. She was draped up in a towel, when she saw Wolverine casually sitting sprawled out on the couch, she blushed at her current predicament. He closed his eyes as she quickly shifted past him to grab her clothes. He opened his eyes when she had turned her back to him.

She was still draped up in that towel. Logan tried to get himself to shut his eyes, but they kept drifting downward. Over her soft curves, and muscular build. She'd turned into one nice looking female. When she started to let the towel drop he shut his eyes immediatly.

She's still a kid old man, get your act together. She doesn't need this right now, he reprimended himself. "You almost ready, kid", he said a bit to harshly. "Yeah, I'm ready", Jubilee answered quietly. When Logan opened his eyes he found her staring into a mirror carefully. "What is it?", he asked briskly walking over to her.

"I...it's...my hair", she murmered. He raised an eyebrow bemused, "What bout it?", he asked. "It's blue...and it's long", she answered. "Yeah, so?". She turned to him angrily, "It look's ridiculas!", she said angrily. Logan couldn't help it, he let loose a roar of laughter. Hurt crossed Jubilee's face. "I don't think it's very funny", she muttered and turned to stalk away.

Logan caught her by the arm, quieting down. "Darlin I wasn't laughin at ya, I was laughin at what ya said. It's look's good on ya, real exotic", he told her gently. Jubilee looked up at him, a small smile crossing her lips. "Really?", she asked hopefully. "Yeah", Logan found himself staring into her blue eyes. Mesmerized by them. Her scent filled his nostrils, tandalizing and sweet. Suddenly he was all to aware of the firecracker he was holding onto.

Could Monet have been right, am I different in his eyes...now that I'm powerful, Jubilee didn't like the sound of that. If that was the fact then Logan really hadn't cared about her at all. Only her appearance, and her abilities. Pulling away from his hold she grabbed her small bag. "We better go", she replied, anger lacing her voice.

Logan looked at her suprised, what had happened? Atleast she stopped it 'fore you could make a big mistake, Canuckle Head, he thought to hisself. "Yeah...come on kid, let's git outta here", he told her.

The slipped downstairs, Logan paid for the rooms, and they were off again. This time thing's were a bit quieter.

Back at Snow Valley

"Ye just let the lass go off with him", Sean said shaking his head. Emma looked at him coldly, "I will stand by my decision. While you are the headmaster here Sean, I am the Owner of this school, and Jubilee is my responsibility. I am her legal guardian, it was my choice", she said acidly.

"I dinnae care if ye were her bleedin mother, ye should of let me know", Sean argued. "Miz Frost, under the circumstances I have to agree with Sean", Angelo began, but was cut off. "Personally Angelo I could care less what you think, or what you mighty X-Men think, or what any other member of this faculty or student body think", Emma replied.

Jean looked at her carefully, gently probing her mind, triumphantly she pulled out just as Emma realised what she was doing. "And what may I ask you are doing Mrs. Summer's", she snapped. She was becoming to lax on her mind barrier's, of course everyone seemed to be more nosy to. "I, Miss Frost, was simply seeing if your concern was completly with Jubilee", Jean told her equally cold.

Emma looked at her in suprise, "Of course it is with the child", she replied angrily. "I know...now", Jean rebuked. "I really don't see what we can do...but wait", Monet put in rationally. The adult's were getting a bit out of hand. She personally didn't want to put up with a fight that was equally as undistinguished as a bar brawl.

Everyone looked at her, she sighed exasperated. "Would it not be obvious that Jubilee would immediatly try and put up mindshield's. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to locate her, and even though we could contact her through the astral plane...it would prove useless. She obviously needed to leave, and Mr. Logan is helping her with that need. She is undoubtfully NOT going to tell us her location. She is also 17, about to be 18. She is practically legally an adult, soon it won't even be Emma's choice", she said it all in one breath, she went slowly and talked to all the X-Men, Generation X, and Sean as if they were in kindergarten.

"Insolent...", Kitty began under her breath but Scott sent her a warning glare. She hung her head and said it to herself. "Emma, I thought these petty fight's were over. You were allowed to teach Generation X so that they may graduate to the X-Men, yet you have practically broken off with us, and begun your own team. Now you deny us the chance to help an old teammate of ours!", Scott argued.

Gasp's went through out the audience. For the first time another member beside Monet spoke out, suprisingly it was the least likely one. Paige Guthrie glared at the leader of the X-Men.

"Mr. Summer's...Cyclops, Ah believe that was way outta line. Miss Frost gave us the choice of graduating to the elder group, every single one of us. Except for Everett, who is at Harvard, everyone decided to stay here and help teach the younger Gen Xer's. We all feel that at the moment we are a team, we felt that if we joined yall we'd break apart. We're not ready to give away what little solstice we've had in the last few years. We've lost two of our newest members...Panther and Evergreen already in a fight against Emplate, we lost Gaia soon after. None of us are ready to lost another friend. We feel we're safer here. When we're ready to go, we will".

Jonothan stepped forward and draped an arm around Paige. He glared at Cyclop's as much as she was. *Does it matter what team we fight with, as long as we fight for the same dream!* he shot out angrily. Everyone stopped as that ran through there veins. It was the straight truth. Everything began to sink in for everybody. No one realised till then how seperated Generation X and the X-Men had become.

Scott cleared his throat and looked at Emma. "I'm sorry", his words were loud and rang with regret. Emma almost allowed her features to go soft, she started to put on a pleased smile, but decided to go with her former choice. "Apology accepted", she said gently.

Everyone looked at her amazed, but she just smiled serenely. Wow Miss Frost, that was almost sweet, Jonothan teased her. Don't expect it to happen again, she shot back laughing softly in the background.

Chapter Four

Thing's were still silent, the few times Logan had tried to break the silence Jubilee had just ignored him. Finally they reached the place to park. He pulled over. Jubilee had been sleeping soundly, she suddenly jerked awake. "Are we there?", she asked, momentarily forgetting her anger.

"Yeah", Logan snapped harshly. His cold voice sent shiver's through Jubilee. The events of the morning washed over Jubilee in a bitter memory. She sighed, she wasn't sure what she was feeling. "Wolvy?", she said suddenly as they unpacked. She didn't have much, but he'd bought a few supplies for when they got to the camping spot.

"What is it?", he asked. Suddenly Jubilee didn't know what to say, what could she say? 'Well Wolvy, you see it's like this. Monet think's you might be attracted to me 'cause I got new powers. I was just wondering if that was the truth.' Jubilee shook her head in disgust, "Nevermind", she muttered.

He looked back at her, worry crossing his craggy features, shining through his anger. They walked for awhile. Jubilee became lost in her own mind, not quite sure what to do. Logan also found himself wondering. He looked back at Jubilee, she looked so delicate and weak. He hated those terms, she blast him to Africa if she knew what he was thinking.

"Oww", Jubilee cried as she tripped. He swiftly turned and shot out his arms, pulling her to him as she fell. She looked at him wide eyed. Innocence and naivete rushing forward. She trembled as he brought her closer. She slowly steadied herself. "Logan", she murmered desperatly. Her knee's were shaking, and her heart was beating faster.

Suddenly he let go of her and swiftly turned, "Come on kid, we gotta go", he remarked and started to move again. Jubilee was left a very confused young woman. She had initially thought he wanted her for her look's, now he seemed to be pushing her away, as if not wanting to hurt her. All she knew was that she wanted him like she had never wanted anyone before. She wasn't sure, but she was beginning to wonder if maybe her childhood affection for the rugged Canadian had turned into something else.

It wasn't long before they reached the small clearing. Logan pointed her towards a small stream of clear water. She nodded and rushed off to feel the jugs. Logan watched her fleeting body, it had been obvious that she'd wanted him as much as he wanted her.

She's a kid! Almost 18...wait till then, if you still feel this way...and she show's more of those feeling's then...No, she's trust's you...you can't do that!

His mind was in turmoil.

It took Jubilee as long to get the water as long as it took him to pitch the tent. He was beginning to wish he'd gotten two small tents, not one big one. "Look's like it's under the star's for you tonight", he muttered to himself.

Jubilee, meanwhile, watched as Logan set a campfire. She was glad, thing's were beginning to get chilly. Her t-shirt wasn't adding much heat either. She shivered, he must have noticed because he struck at the woods harder. Finally it lit up brightly. Heat filled the small camping area.

Jubilee made herself smile brightly, she mumbled thanks and sat by a log around the fire. Warmth spread over her as she leaned against the log. She looked up into the star's, remembering ...long ago...her father had taught her the constellation's. They had been on a beachside camping trip.

Jubilee suddenly felt a bit of sadness wash over her. She felt a pang of home sickness. She wanted the beautiful sandy beaches of her native California, and the bright sun that sent ray's almost everywhere you went. Jubilee had spent most of her time at the beach. It had been a nice refuge from her parent's constant screaming. Whether it was toward each other, or employee's.

Jubilee suddenly burst back into reality. A small sound snapped. Her head snapped up, she looked around for Logan. "Wolvy?", she whispered. He was by her side in moments, "What is it?", he asked. "I thought I heard something", she said. He sniffed, suddenly his face grew dark. He thrust her away as a huge bear came crashing threw the bushes.

Jubilee watched as Logan snapped his claws, he gave a low growl then attacked the hungry bear. Jubilee became mesmerized, as she alway's did, when watching Logan fight. He was quick, and graceful. The muscles in his body tight and showing. He was obviously winning, until the bear suddenly managed the thrash him across the shoulder.

Logan flew from the ground. He hit a tree trunk hard, and with a 'thunk' fell to the ground in a heap. He was obviously hurt, a ordinary man would have been killed from the gash across his chest and shoulder. The impact into the tree only made it worse.

Jubilee rushed over to him, checking everything. He was alive, and breathing...but barely. His healing factor would take awhile in healing him. She suddenly gave a soft uncertain laugh as she looked over at the bear. He was about to advance on her, she mumbled a curse under her breath and quickly stood.

Not having time to plan a counter attack she just showered him in bright pyrokinetics, trying to keep her lightning out of it. The bear was only doing it's job in nature, it hadn't meant any harm. If she could scare it, then maybe it would leave. She finally realised it wasn't going to work, it was only blinding the animal.

'She has three ESP abilities...Telpathy, Clairovoyance, and Physchokinesis' Hank's words rebounded in her skull as she tried to think of a solution. An idea began to form, using as much strength as she dared use, she stretched her mind and tried to freeze the bear. Suddenly it stopped, bewilderment was in his eyes.

Then she pushed with all her might, the bear went flying. When he regained his balance he was off and running. Jubilee took a deep breath and collapsed across Wolverine's chest. She pushed herself up moment's later. She stood and looked at him, now how too...

"Ughhh", Jubilee pulled with all her might, Wolverine only budged a couple inches a second. She continued to curse and groan as she pulled. Finally she had him in the tent he'd rented. Grinning in triumph she grabbed the medical pack he'd brought. Well, Emma had sent it via mail to the nearest place they had stopped.

She rummaged through it. Finding bandages she set to work. Ripping what was left of Wolverine's shirt she cleaned his wound carefully. It would take awhile to heal even after he awakened. Briefly she thought of what it would be like to feel his chest under different circumstances, but then she banished the thought from her mind as quickly as it came.

She went to put back the small remainder of bandages when her eyes fell on another of the accesories Emma had packed. A blush spread across her face. A brand new pack of condom's, and birth control pills. She looked down at Logan, then back at the pills. A crimson blush spread over her face as she picked up the pills out of curiousity.

Suddenly Logan, coughing back into conscience, made her drop them and shut the box with a thud.

She smiled sheepishly at him, and hoped it looked sympathetic, "How do ya feel", she managed to choke out. "I'll heal", he tried to shrug but pain coarsed through his body, Jubilee could tell by the look that past over his face. She got one of the pain killers. He gave her a drop dead look. She returned it. "Open wide", she instructed.

Shaking his head he answered, "I don't think so". Jubilee seemed to start putting it down, a regretful look crossed her face, then a guilty one, then a gleeful one. The one she got when Bobby and her pulled a prank. Jubilee shot out her leg and kicked Logan hard. He opened his mouth in protest. Jubilee dropped the pill in his mouth.

He finally swallowed it, however he continued to send her murderous glare's. She only grinned. "So ya went through what Emma sent us", he said gesturing to the bandages. "Yeah, have you?", Jubilee asked carefully. Please say no.... she thought. "Nope", he told her, but his eyes were laughing a bit, so she wasn't sure if it was the truth or not.

"The bear...", he began. "Blind...for the moment", Jubilee broke in.

"Good".

"How long do you think it will be till you've completly healed", she asked. Logan shrugged, "T'night, we can start going back tommorow morning". "Okay, you need to get some sleep", was all Jubilee said then got up to leave. She wasn't really looking forward to sleeping in the cold mountain air, but Wolvy needed the warmth the tent protected.

He had other ideas. He caught her wrist in a strong grasp. Jubilee jumped from the sudden abruptness of his touch. She looked down. "Yeah", she barely whispered. "You can't stay out there", he replied gruffly sitting up.

Jubilee pushed him gently back down. "I'll be fine", she whispered. "It's a big tent", he objected. Jubilee blushed, "I know...okay, I'll sleep on the other side", she murmered. He nodded, then closed his eyes. He didn't allow himself to fall asleep till he heard her lay down, and fall asleep herself.

Chapter Five

The sun was barely risen when Jubilee felt Logan shaking her. She grabbed her pillow sleepily and hit him with it. He took it from her and repaid the gesture. She finally sat up, "Couldn't we wait a little longer?", she mumbled.

"Nope, we gotta head out now", he told her briskly. "Why?", she retorted laying back down and pulling the cover's over her head. She usually would have risen without any trouble since it was Logan asking her, but she felt like being difficult for some reason.

"Jubilation Lee if you don't git up this instant...", Logan began. "What are ya gonna do, ground me", she snarled from under the blanket. Logan sighed and shook her briskly. "The sun'll be hotter than a sauna in a couple hours, we can be almost there if we leave now!...I don't wanna carry yur overheated body up this blasted mountain", he added.

Jubilee threw the blanket's to her waist and glared. "I'm up already", she snapped. Logan chuckled and left the cabin so she could change into the other pair of clothes she owned.

"How long will it take us?", she asked. "Bout 2 hours and a half", he told her as he took down all the camping junk. "Ya ready?", he asked throwing her a pack. "Yup", was the only reply. "Let's go then", he answered and they started off again.

It didn't take Jubilee long to realize he had been telling the truth. She was drenching in sweat, and it was only 10. "Wolvy...how much farther is it?", she asked for the first time. He glanced back at her, checking on her condition.

"About 30 minutes, but we'll break here", he told her gently. He sat against a huge boulder, and she collapsed against him breathlessly. He handed her his cantene, she had run out of water 10 minutes pryor. "Guess I should learn to manage my water better. Been a long time since I've done anything like this", she gasped.

"You hike a lot when you were a kid?", Logan asked curiously. Jubilee looked over him and opened her mouth to answer, carefully choosing her words. "Yeah, a lot of beachside camping too". "Beachside camping?", Logan chuckled.

Jubilee looked at him crossly, "And what's wrong with beachside camping?", she snapped back. Logan raised his hands innocently. "Nothin...just sound's like something the girl scouts would do", he chuckled.

"It wasn't. I remember how my dad's schedule was. He didn't get away very often, and I never knew when he would be able to. The day's he could, one of the staff would pack my bag while I was at school, then he'd pick me up. We'd start at the same place everytime...then start to walk. We'd go for the whole afternoon, then camp, and then all of Saturday. Finding thrifty little caves, and awesome small town's and stores. Alot of which helped me hide out when I was an orphan. I learned how to swim...count the stars...even to spell on those trips", she sighed.

He watched her carefully as she talked. Her mouth moved slowly, and the way her eyes drifted off sadly. He put a hand on her wrist. She turned and looked at him with bewildered eyes. "It's okay to cry", he told her gently noticing the tears weld up in her eyes.

Jubilee smiled softly, "I'm all cried out Wolvy", she murmered standing. "Let's go old man, I wanna take a real nap in a real bed", she told him teasingly, forcing the sparkle back into her eyes. He grinned and followed her.

They continued with her in the lead....

The cabin finally came into view, and Jubilee smiled in relief. For the last half hour she had refused to stop. Even though the sun was giving her a sunburn, and soaking up any water she had absorbed. She knew that she would be red as a tomato soon.

She was suprised at how neat the place was. "Not all to shabby", she murmered as she stepped in. It was one room, with a loft. A bed was in one corner, clean covers gently resting on it. There was a small TV, and a refrigerator full of food...and beer.

"Think ya can survive here for a little while?", Logan asked chuckling to himself at her amazed expression. "What'd'ya do...hire a cleanin lady to come up here?", Jubilee asked shocked. "Called some people I know, they got it ready", he shrugged.

"That was nice", she said quietly, eagerly eyeing the bed. Logan laughed outloud this time as she yawned. "Hit the hay for awhile, I'm gonna go scout around. Holler if you need me for anything...", the way he emphasized anything made Jubilee know that if it was anything as small as a nightmare that she could holler for him.

She nodded. He turned to leave. If he had been just another ordinary man he wouldn't have words the words she whispered next.

"Thank you for bringing me here".

"Yur Welcome", he added as she layed down. Then he left.

Hours later

Jubilee sat up carefully. The area around her was dark, how had it gotten dark so quickly? She had layed down around 12:40...it looked about 6:00. A movement to the left of her eye caught her attention.

She pushed herself around, but strong arms caught her and covered her mouth.

"Think ya could git away from me frail", a cold voice whispered softly in her ear.

She struggled until she felt claws pressed against her throat. "Ya pull a trick like ya did in Massachusett's and I'll cut not only yur throat, but I'll make sure I cut everyone's throat that ya know. Maybe that sweet peach Paige...she's a cute thing, real innocent...you wouldn't know much about innocence would ya slut. Or maybe that Monet gurl, flittin around in those short tight skirts...", Jubilee's muffled sob broke him off.

"That's what I thought wench...now let's see if that was enough to break ya", he murmered trailing hot kisses down her neck.

She cried out.

"Guess not...well maybe this will", Creed laughed and turned her to see Wolverine. Crumpled on the floor, covered blood, bone claws shattered beside him, dead. "No", she whispered.

"Yes", Sabretooth replied unsheathing his claws. They slipped down the material of her t-shirt. "Yes".

"AHHHHH"....

"AHHHHH", Jubilee screamed, things around her flew. Fireworks shattered everything glass around her. Including Logan's bottle of beer which he had been holding.

He immediatly pulled her into his arms, practically crushing her. She awoke in a maddened state. Her eyes flashed wildly as everything continued to fly. Logan realised that they were both levitating a bit off the floor.

"Shhh", was all he could think of doing to the frightened woman in his arms. Jubilee slowly began to calm down as his embrace comforted her.

She willed them to go down, and they did carefully.

As soon as everything was safely not floating he took one glance at her, before she threw himself in his arms.

"He killed you", was all she could say over and over again between sobs.

"I'm right here, and nothing is going to happen to you or me. I'm gonna be here for you girl alway's", he promised, he briefly wondered what he getting himself into. He had no idea.

"Ya promise? Ya want leave me, I don't think I could handle that again", she whispered. He looked down wondering what the heck she was talking about. "Never", he just put in. He would find out later on.
