Chapter 2

"Mr Onaka?"

An Asian man, late twenties turned from the large glass window. He studied the younger man before him with fathomless hazel eyes.

"Yes?" he asked his voice a deep rumble.

The younger man looked uncomfortable, and had to stop himself from squirming visibly under Onaka's gaze. He had heard stories about this man, none of them good.

The man, Logan has been given to Dr McCoy as ordered. I do not see why you did not simply let him die, he tried to assassinate you."

"This is why I am C.E.O of this company and you are but an errand boy. He serves my purposes better alive then dead. Leave me, I do not wish to be disturbed again." Onaka growled.

The younger man sketched a quick bow and then left. Onaka turned back to the window and looked out at the city below.

"Soon Jubilation, soon we will meet again. This time it will be I who has the upper hand." He whispered softly.

Elsewhere in the city...

"So what's up? You've been brooding on me now for an hour."

"Nothing Angelo, why the hell don't you just go home, okay? You shouldn't be hangin' with me anyway, only get you killed." Jubilee muttered.

Jubilee walked along in silence for a few more metre's Angelo by her side, the lights of the city washing across their faces.

"Never give me credit do you Lee? I can take care of myself just fine."

Jubilee's hand lashed out, going for his throat, and Angelo barely dodged the blow in time. Jubilee looked at him with one raised eyebrow and then gestured downwards with her eyes. Angelo glanced down and then jumped back fast, looking at Jubilee in shock. Jubilee replaced the dagger she held in its wrist sheath and grinned humorously at Angelo.

"Ya gotta learn to pay attention to more then one thing, one direction at a time when you're fighting. Logan always said it wasn't the blow that you could see that would kill you, but the one that you couldn't. He said, just when you think you've got everything covered is when they'll screw you over with something you didn't expect. So he taught me to expect everything, and to never think an enemies dead until you're holding their still warm ashes in your hands, maybe not even then."

Angelo watched Jubilee for a second, trying to find something in her sapphire blue gaze, something that would tell him what she wanted.

"So teach me then, everyone knows that Logan didn't come back from the Onaka job, and you're not going to last out here alone for very long." Angelo said finally.

Jubilee's eyes darkened with rage and she slammed him up against a brick wall.

"He ain't dead, you hear me Angelo Espinosa." She snarled.

Angelo pushed Jubilee away easily and glared at her. While Jubilee was deadly, and fast Angelo would always have the upper hand in a test of strength.

"Jeeze Jubicita, take it easy. I didn't mean any disrespect. You gotta admit though, it ain't likely that his still alive in there."

Jubilee looked at him blankly for a second, and then finally, sighing, she held out her hand. Angelo looked at her outstretched hand and then into her haunted eyes. He reached out and gripped it firmly in his own, drawing her into an embrace.

"I'm sorry Ange, just things got me jumpy lately. It feels like I'm losing all control over my life. Only thing I know, only thing solid still left is that his alive. I know he is Ange, I feel it deep inside. I didn't mean to take it out on you."

"Hey, what're friends for? Come on we're both hungry and I know this great place that just opened. We can sit down and then you can tell me about the deal you made."

Jubilee looked at her friend, opening her mouth to protest. Angelo put his finger against his lips.

"No Chica, I know that deal had something to do with getting Logan out of there. I ain't about to let you go it alone. Logan would have my hide for one thing, and another is I'd never forgive myself if I let you go in alone and you got hurt." Angelo explained.

Jubilee sighed and then smiled,

"Trust you to be thinking about your stomach." She said finally.

Angelo grinned,

"Hey, I'm a man, there's only a few things we think about." He said with a wink.

Jubilee laughed, she knew her friend was trying to make her forget about her worries. Not for the first time, and most certainly not for the last Jubilee was glad of the circumstances that had led her to Angelo.

"Come on, let's go check out this place." She said.
