Two nights later they stopped for the night in another hotel. Cassie sat down on her bed and yawned. Logan put down her bag and looked around the room. "I'll be just down the hall if you need anything. All right?" He told her. Cassie laid back in bed and nodded. "Be sure you lock the door after I leave." He told her sternly. Cassie glanced up at him but nodded anyway. "Good night. I'll see you in the morning." Cassie put one hand over her eyes and waved the other hand sluggishly in his direction. Logan waited in the hallway for a few minutes then heard the lock. He smiled and walked a few doors down to his room.

Inside his room he put his own bag down and he walked over to the phone. He had promised Jean he'd call her. The phone rang twice before she answered it. "Hello Logan." Jean said warmly.

"Hey Red, whatcha' up to?" He asked.

"Oh nothing much. Just going over some reports." Jean said nonchalantly. "How's Jubilee?" Jean asked.

"She's fine. She's still warming up to me though. At least she's sleeping more. This should make two nights in a row." Logan said.

"She's asleep now?" Jean asked and Logan didn't miss the slight catch in her voice. Logan had told Cassie about the X-MEN and had even given her the chance of talking to them, she had turned him down.

"Probably, I just settled her in her room." He paused. "Give her time Jeanie, it's all she needs. It's hard I know but she needs to feel comfortable." He consoled her. She sighed a bit wistfully.

"I know I just wish." She grew quiet again.

"I know." Logan told her. "I know."

Cassie waited in her room for a few minutes before she finally got the courage to get out of bed. She flicked on the lamp on her night table and it brightened the dark room a bit. She walked out in the hall and paused for a moment to see if anyone was thee. She was dressed in her nightgown, a white men's dress shirt that came down to her knees. Satisfied she walked down to Logan's room. She knocked twice before she walked in. The room was dark but she could make out Logan laying in bed. His head raised off the pillow as he looked at her. She locked the door behind her and walked over to the bed. Wordlessly she climbed on the bed and pulled back the covers.

Logan looked at her baffled as she climbed in beside him. "Darlin'." He whispered. Cassie didn't say anything just snuggled against him. Her body was shaking slightly and he smelled sweat. Her heart was beating fast and her breathing was off. He put an arm around her pulling her close to him. "What got you so scared?" He whispered. She buried her face in his hairy chest.

"Nightmare." She said with her voice muffled. He paused for a moment concerned for her. Another part of him was glad he could finally hug her. He put his cheek on the top of her head.

"What kind of nightmare?" He asked. Her small hands gripped him tighter.

"A really bad one." Her voice was shaky and he felt her heave as she cried. Hot tears fell on his chest and he heard small gasping sounds. He held her tighter letting her cry. After she was done she raised ehr head and wiped her face. "I don't want to go back to my room." She said tearfully.

"You want to stay here?" He asked her uncertain. She nodded and nestled back into him. "No problem, you get the bed and I'll take the couch this time." He told her. Jubilee held onto his arms.

"No." She said forcefully and paused to level her voice. "Stay here. I don't want to be alone." She said raggedly. "Just stay here." She repeated and Logan could only nod.

"I'll stay darlin' don't worry." He assured her. Her body eased itself back into him and she closed her eyes. "Don't worry Jubilee, everything will be all right." He whispered and kissed the top of her head. "Go to sleep. I promise you won't have another nightmare." He whispered.

"G'night Wovie." She muttered already half asleep. Logan's eyes snapped open and he looked down at the sleeping girl. He held her even tighter and he grinned.

"She called me Wolvie." He said to himself.

Logan immediately woke up at the sound of the alarm clock. He looked at the clock and saw it was a little after five. He sat up pushing off the covers and rolled out of bed. He ran a hand through his unkempt hair and looked over to Cassie. She was resting on her knees on the couch with a sucker popped in her mouth. She was flipping through a magazine. A simple white dress replaced her jeans. He felt a little under dressed since the only thing he had on were blue boxers.

He walked into the bathroom and left the door open. He ran the water in the sink and took out his shaving kit. "Feeling better kid?" He asked. He heard her sigh.

"Do I look like a kid?" She asked putting her hands on her hips, the sucker gone. Logan looked at her reflection in the mirror.

"Yes." He told her. In response she threw a pillow at him. He huffed and tossed it on the bed. "Are you going to be in a bad mood all day or just until you get your coffee?" He asked.

"What the hell do you care?" She snapped. Logan looked at her reflection again.

"Because you make things unbearable when you throw fits." He said and she rolled her eyes.

"I do not throw fits." She growled. Logan shrugged not willing to make a fight out of it.

"You called me Wolvie last night when you went to sleep." He told her.

"So?" She asked.

"So you used to call me Wolvie and I never told you about that. You must remember." He told her and looked in the mirror to see her reflection.

She had gotten off the couch and walked over to him. She sat on the counter by the sink. He had taken out his shaving cream and was lathering up. She watched him with no particular expression.

"So what kind of nightmare did you have last night?" He asked picking up his razor. She didn't answer him. He looked at her sharply and she conveniently looked away. "I'm not going to let this drop." He told her. Cassie crossed her arms and lent back against the wall. "What was it about, was it a memory?" He asked. She didn't answer and Logan looked at her hard for a moment then back in the mirror.

"Do you trust me?" She asked after a moment. Logan glanced her way.

"Course." He told her. She shook her head with a slight smile.

"What? Just like that?" She asked.

"Nothing's just like that. You are who you are whether you remember it or not. An I trust ya'." He told her. Cassie raised one of her hands and took the razor from him. Logan looked at her bemused as she inched herself in front of him. She sat on the edge of the sink in front of him with each knee on his side. She smiled at his confused expression. "What are you doing?" He asked.

"You said you trust me." She challenged. Cassie put one of her hands on his face, her fingers resting in his hair. She smiled when he didn't stop her and raised the razor to his cheek. She gently swiped it down his cheek and he closed his eyes. She raised the rinsed the razor in the sink and carefully she cleared the rest of the stubble from his cheek. She moved his head back and did the same to his neak. "So how much longer until we're there?" She asked quietly rinsing out the razor.

"You mean home?" He asked opening his eyes. She nodded. "Well a few more days like this we should be there." He told her. She nodded again moving to his other cheek engrossed in it. Logan closed his eyes again as she finished. She stood up on the sink and hopped off. Logan moved out of her way.

"I can't believe you just let me do that." She told him.

"Told you I trust you." He told her admiring her job, not one nick. He smiled toothily and she walked from the room. "Get ready, we have to leave in twent minutes." He told her. He heard her moving around in the room.

Logan stepped out of the bathroom ready to go. Cassie was sitting on the edge of his bed staring at the carpet. Her small face was set in a serious scowl. Logan looked at her warily. "You ready to go?" He asked her briskly. She didn't look up at him just shook her head once.

"I can't." She said so low his ears strained to pick it up.

"What?" Logan asked.

"I can't. She repeated. She took a deep breath and ran a hand through her hair. "I thought about it and I changed my mind. I can't do this. I just can't." She said shakily.

"Why not?" Logan asked walking over to her and she inched further away from him. Her eyes darted around the room.

"It's all too much." She gasped. She stood up and walked over to the window. Tears fell down her face.

"Jubilee." Logan appealed. She whirled on him.

"Don't call me that!" She yelled. Logan walked towards her urgently.

"Jubilee. Give it time, its not that bad. We can fix it." He tried and she shook her heard furiously crying now. "Jubilee."

"No!" Cassie shouted and flung up her hands. Bright sparks shot from her hands and a roar filled the room. Logan flew across the room and hit the wall. The light died from her hands and Cassie stared at them bewildered. The pain from her hands were horrible and they itched like crazy. She breathed heabily and felt her heart slam inside her chest. She swallowed hard and looked across the room as she heard Logan moan. He was lying on the ground pushing himself up. "ohmygoshlogan." She stumbled over to him and knelt beside him. She put her hands on his back. "Logan?" She asked fearfully still crying.

Logan groaned again and sat up. He offered her a tight smile. "Sokay darlin'. Just give me a minute." He muttered. Cassie smelled burnt hair and singed cloth. Logan sat on his knees and she looked at his chest. The front of his shirt was mostly gone, while some of it was scorched into his skin. She saw blood and burnt flesh. Logan took the shirt off and laughed.

It cut short when he noticed that she had paled considerably. "Jubilee?" Her hand went over her heart and he got up. "Damn." He cursed. "Where's your bag?" He asked and spotted it by the door. He ran over to it and rumaged around in it. Not finding what he was looking for he dumped the contents on the floor. He saw the orange bottle and snatched it up. He ran to the bathroom and filled a glass with water. Kneeling beside her he placed a pill in her mouth. He put the glass to her lips and she took a sip. She swallowed the pill and put her forehead on the floor. After a long mometn she sat up. "You all right?" Logan asked. Cassie nodded shakily. "You sure?" He asked. She nodded again then burst into tears.

One of his muscular arms reached out clumsily and held her to his side. Her sobs racked his body and he winced. "Its all right Jubilee. Your fine, I'm fine. Everything's fine." He breathed. His chest healed now so he shifted her so he could hold her with both arms. She put a hesitant hand on his chest.

"I..I..I'm sooo so sooory. I..I didn't me..mean to." She tried to make out through gasps and Logan patted her hand.

"Don't worry none, remember I heal real fast." He told her. It didn't stop her crying and as the minutes stretched on Logan thought something was seriously wrong. "Nothing's broken. See?" He told her. He rocked her back and forth strocking her back, trying to get her to stop. "It's okay." He repeated over and over. Remembering something he held up one of her hands gently. "Is it your hands, do they hurt?" He asked concerened. She nodded.

"They do but that's not why I can't stop." She cried and grasped onto his hand. She paused to stop crying. "That dream last night, it was a memory. Something really bad happened to me and I don't want to remember it." She admitted. Logan wipped her face.

"That's part of the deal. Take the bad with the good." Logan told her. She frowned.

"That sucks." She pouted. Logan chuckled. "I don't think I can be her." She said suddenly.

"You *are* her. Nothing will ever change that." He told her. "It's all right to be scared." He offered. Cassie rested her head on his shoulder.

"I am scared." She whispered. "I mean I'm going ot remember a whole new life and I get all the accessoreies that goes with it. A home, school, powers, people that know me."

"People that love you." He told her.

"I don't remember them." She told him meekly.

"Not yet but you will." He promised her. "Cassie?" He asked.

"Yeah?" She sniffed.

"Can I call you Jubilee?" He asked hesitantly. She snorted and rubbed her eyes.

"Sure, why not?" She said and laughed.
